This course will provide you with hands-on experience in configuring, testing, and troubleshooting complex electrical circuits and systems. You will learn to create detailed specifications for electrical engineering projects, from small-scale installations to large processing plants.

By the end of the program, you’ll be skilled in planning and managing large electrical projects, including designing electrical systems, briefing installations, managing contracts, writing engineering specifications, and solving electro-technology problems.

Graduates will be equipped to take on roles in electrical and control support, as well as manage and upgrade electrical infrastructure in small, medium, and large enterprises, with a focus on automation and electrical technology in business and manufacturing settings.

 

Entry into the course

St Mary’s Institute has the following entry requirements: International students must:
  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Have an IELTS score of 6.0 or equivalent (test results must be no more than 2 years old)
  • Have completed a Year 12 or equivalent high school certificate
Candidates will also be required to complete a pre-enrolment Candidate Self-Assessment as part of the application and participate in a course entry interview to determine suitability for the course.

Total Duration: 108 Weeks (including holidays)

Contact Weeks: 82 Weeks

This course will be delivered over a period of 108 weeks (including holidays). Classes will be schedules for 82 weeks over 5 academic terms with 16 weeks holiday.

Class and simulation sessions are planned to ensure that students have a mixture of practical and theoretical components and those classes cater for a wide variety of learning styles.  Additionally, workplace practices and environments are simulated and used to conduct skills-based assessments in accordance with unit requirements.  Classes are scheduled for 20 hours face to face per week.

Delivery mode and location

This course will be delivered face-to-face in a classroom-based setting which includes the simulation of care-based environment. This course also has work placement requirements.
